Lavrov urges foreign media to report truth about Ukrainian crisis

The foreign minister stressed that the Russian side provided many facts about what was happening in and around Ukraine and all of them were "supported by concrete evidence"

MOSCOW, February 15. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, at a working meeting on Wednesday with the heads of foreign media bureaus accredited in Russia, called on them to report the truth against the backdrop of the facts which the Russian side provides about what is happening in Ukraine.

He pointed out that it was important for the readership to have first-hand information.

"I am convinced that real journalists, just like real diplomats, value their reputation and try to cover the current events impartially and comprehensively, all the more so when it comes to the conclusions that are presented to your and our audiences," he continued.

Lavrov stressed that the Russian side provided many facts about what was happening in and around Ukraine and all of them were "supported by concrete evidence."

"[Such information] should always reach the end recipients, who are literally under a hailstorm of speculation, manipulation and major falsehoods that openly distort reality, so conveying the truth for you and for us, diplomats, is now of particular importance," Lavrov said.
