Choosing West over Russia would have spelled damage for Serbia — Russian Foreign Ministry

It was underscored that emissaries from Washington, Brussels and other Western capitals exert brutal pressure on Serbian authorities "literally every day"

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. Serbia realizes the value of partnership with Russia, while a choice in favor of the West would have been to Belgrade’s detriment, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in her commentary Monday.

The diplomat underscored that emissaries from Washington, Brussels and other Western capitals exert brutal pressure on Serbian authorities "literally every day."

"National interests are not a bargaining chip; Belgrade understands the intrinsic value of the Russian-Serbian strategic partnership and therefore refrains from practical measures that would damage our relations," Zakharova noted. "Logic dictates that a different choice would have inevitably spelled irreparable damage for Serbia itself.".
