Iraqi president appreciates Russia’s support in fight against terrorism

CAIRO, February 6. /TASS/. Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid appreciates Moscow’s support in the fight against terrorism, as he himself said at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Baghdad on Monday.

"The president received Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, the prospects for cooperation between the two friendly countries and developments on the regional and international stage," the Iraqi presidential press service said in a statement.

According to the statement, "the president highly appreciated Russia’s support for Iraq’s fight against terrorism, as well as its efforts to ensure security."
