Russia’s National Guard points to rise in European mercenaries in special operation zone

The agency emphasized that every day, National Guard members conducted operations to detect arms caches and carried out mine-clearing activities

MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. The number of mercenaries from European countries is growing in the zone of Russia’s special military operation, Chief of the country’s National Guard Viktor Zolotov said.

Zolotov paid a working visit to the National Guard’s units in Crimea and the Kherson Region, the agency said in a statement.

"Viktor Zolotov pointed out that there had been an increase in the number of mercenaries from Europe in the enemy’s ranks in the zone of the special military operation. They have significant experience in armed conflicts in various countries and are adequately trained. However, the National Guard’s staff and service members demonstrate a higher level of professionalism and training during combat operations," the statement reads.

The agency emphasized that every day, National Guard members conducted operations to detect arms caches and carried out mine-clearing activities.

Zolotov thanked National Guard staff and service members for successfully performing their missions, and handed government awards to those who had distinguished themselves during the special military operation.
