Kremlin sees NATO getting increasingly involved in conflict Ukraine

Dmitry Peskov also pointed to other countries’ sticking to "the erroneous idea of Ukraine winning a victory on the battlefield"

MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine has been unfolding along an upward spiral, with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization getting increasingly involved in it, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

Asked whether yet another stage of the escalation was now behind us, Peskov said, "So far, we can see that it (the conflict - TASS) is unfolding along an upward spiral. And we can see increasingly more indirect and sometimes direct involvement of NATO countries in this conflict. We can hear statements that manifest the prevailing political will to keep increasing this involvement."

The Russian presidential spokesman also pointed to other countries’ sticking to "the erroneous idea of Ukraine winning a victory on the battlefield." He said this was a dramatic delusion that would be unceasingly regretted by the West.

"So, everything does boil down to the fact that the conflict will deteriorate into triggering further escalation," he concluded.
