Russia building new supply chains protected from Western colonialists, says top diplomat

Sergey Lavrov also mentioned intergovernmental commissions on trade-economic cooperation between Russia and Arab states, as well as a forum dubbed ‘Russian-Arab dialogue’

MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. Russia is building new supply chains that are protected from Western colonialists, as well as shifting to payments in national currencies, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on Russian diplomacy in 2022 on Wednesday.

"We are building new supply chains that are protected from those colonialists. We are shifting more and more to payments in national currencies," he said.

"We have many global projects," the minister stated, noting "a nuclear power plant in Egypt, with an industrial zone being created with Russia’s participation, many projects in Algeria, promising plans with Morocco."

He also mentioned intergovernmental commissions on trade-economic cooperation between Russia and Arab states, as well as a forum dubbed ‘Russian-Arab dialogue’. "We couldn’t meet face-to-face for a couple of years due to the pandemic. Now we are discussing another ministerial meeting to be held with one of the countries of the region as determined by our partners, or we are always ready to host [a meeting] in the Russian Federation," Lavrov pointed out.
