Russia to inform UN chief of Kiev’s dirty bomb plans — deputy UN envoy

It is reported that a letter will be sent to Antonio Guterres on this issue later today

UNITED NATIONS, October 24./TASS/. Russia will send a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres later on Monday in connection with information about Kiev's plans to stage a provocation using a dirty bomb, First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky wrote on Twitter.

"More details on the planned Ukrainian provocation with dirty bomb. We will send a letter to Antonio Guterres on this issue later today," Polyansky blogged.

Ukraine's potential detonation of a dirty bomb would lead to the radioactive contamination of an area covering several thousand square meters, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, Chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, said on Monday. Russia’s Defense Ministry is working on combating possible provocations by Ukraine, with all forces and means ready for executing missions amid radioactive contamination, Kirillov stressed.

Moscow will raise the issue of Kiev's preparations for a dirty bomb provocation in international structures, including the UN, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu held telephone conversations with his British, French and Turkish counterparts, as well as with the Pentagon chief. Shoigu conveyed to his colleagues concerns about Ukraine’s possible use of a dirty bomb.
