MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. The United States has failed to use the platform of the Organization of American States (OAS) for collective condemnation of Russia and advance the anti-Russian agenda, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing on Tuesday.
As an example of "the unwillingness of Latin American countries to unconditionally succumb to the will of the United States" Zakharova mentioned the refusal of a number of key states in the region to support an anti-Russian statement condemning the special military operation in Ukraine, which the Americans managed to push through at the 52th session of the OAS General Assembly.
"In defiance of all efforts by the White House and the pressure that was exerted on the region’s countries the initiative failed to earn support from such authoritative and influential states of the region as Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Bolivia, Honduras, El Salvador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica," Zakharova stated. "Given the absence of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, which have already quit this organization or are in the process of leaving, almost a third of the states of the Western Hemisphere refused to join Washington’s anti-Russian attack."
"The Americans’ idea to organize collective condemnation of our country and of the referendums [on the accession of new territories to Russia] on the OAS platform actually failed," Zakharova said.
