Lavrov calls out West’s botched scheme to squeeze Russia out of Asia-Pacific region

According to Sergey Lavrov, Russia has been consistently promoting moves "to build the architecture of equitable and indivisible security and sustainable socio-economic development in that part of the globe"

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, October 7. /TASS/. The West is failing in its crusade to isolate Russia and push it out of the Asia-Pacific region, because the absolute majority of regional players are committed to maintaining constructive and multifaceted cooperation with Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

"We have repeatedly had to reiterate that the center of world politics and economics has been shifting from the Euro-Atlantic area to Eurasia and the Asia-Pacific zone, which is why fostering ties with this region in various formats has traditionally been among our explicit foreign policy priorities," the Russian diplomat emphasized, addressing a meeting of the United Russia party’s commission at an international forum on environmental policies and sustainable development.

"In this context, I am happy to see that, despite the collective West’s attempts to isolate Russia and squeeze it out of the regional developments, the absolute majority of regional players have been demonstrating their unwavering determination to foster constructive and multifaceted cooperation with us," he said.
