EU leaders to approve eighth package of sanctions against Russia — official

It was reported earlier EU permanent representatives had endorsed the new package of sanctions, including the price cap for Russian oil

BRUSSELS, October 5. /TASS/. Leaders of twenty seven member-states of the European Union (EU) will approve the new package of sanctions against Russia at their summit in Prague on October 6-7, a high-ranking EU official told reporters on Wednesday.

"We expect the package of sanctions will be approved," the diplomat said.

EU leaders are anticipated to approve the eight package of anti-Russian sanctions and then it will be published in the Official Journal of the EU and come into force.

It was reported earlier EU permanent representatives had endorsed the new package of sanctions, including the price cap for Russian oil. New restrictions also comprise the ban on import of steel products, pulp, paper, chemicals, plastics and cigarettes from Russia.
