West uses Ukraine as pretext to try to derail Russia, says security official

As it was pointed out, "outright economic, sanctions and information warfare is being actually waged" against Moscow

MOSCOW, June 6. /TASS/. Ukraine is a pretext for the West that is trying to derail Russia and step up attempts at changing its constitutional order, Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev said in an interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta government daily on Monday.

As the security official pointed out, "outright economic, sanctions and information warfare is being actually waged" against Moscow.

"Ukraine, which the West had programmed in the anti-Russia mode over all these 30 years, is just a pretext for destabilizing our country and stepping up attempts to change its constitutional order," Nurgaliyev stressed.

Russia perceives "the Kiev regime’s actions orchestrated by its Western patrons as a threat to the entire world, which manifests itself, in particular, in developing biological and nuclear weapons, uncontrollably distributing anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons and small arms among the population and using civilians as a human shield for nationalist formations," the security official pointed out.
