MOSCOW, June 6. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Western politicians want to resolve their electoral tasks by "dumbing down" their constituents.

"There, they are increasingly more afraid of the truth, increasingly more try to escape to some made-up fake reality which TV screens, social networks, any information resources are filled with, <...> they want to resolve their electoral task through the dumbing-down of their voters," he said at an online press conference on the pertinent issues of the international agenda on Monday.

Speaking of the EU’s aspirations to sway the union’s potential new members towards Russophobia, the Russian top diplomat gave high marks to Serbia’s position in relations with Russia. "We have high esteem for the courageous stance adopted by Serbia with regards to this, by President Aleksandar Vucic personally who stresses that he won’t be involved in anti-Russian activities, while this is precisely what the European Union wants," Lavrov pointed out.
