Russian, Senegalese presidents to discuss food crisis, Kremlin says

Russian-African relations to be discussed as well

MOSCOW, June 3. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall who also chairs the African Union may touch, among others, on the issue of a food crisis and the deficit of fertilizers during talks on Friday, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

"The agenda is extremely important and detailed," he said. "Naturally, international issues [will be discussed]. The deep concern of the African continent over the already looming global food crisis. The problem of the lack of fertilizers. Economic interaction," the Kremlin official explained.

Additionally, Russian-African relations will also be discussed, he added. "Many issues, topics were mapped out for profound cooperation during the Sochi Russia-Africa summit. There is talk about preparations for the next summit," the spokesman said.

According to Putin’s press secretary, the Russian leader has already arrived in Sochi where the talks will be held. The meeting will also be attended by Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat. The leaders’ conversation will continue in the format of a working breakfast.

Speaking of plans for the weekend, the Kremlin official expressed hope that there won’t be any need to hold a conference call with reporters this Saturday or Sunday.
