Europe starts comprehending implication of their sanctions in energy sphere — Lavrov

On Monday, heads of states and governments of EU member-states agreed the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, which comprises the partial embargo on Russian oil import

RIYADH, June 1. /TASS/. European countries have started realizing consequences of sanctions in the energy sphere introduced against Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.

"The effect will be as certain European politicians already say, who stated that sanctions do not work because ‘we are lowering procurements of energy resources from Russia but global prices for energy resources are growing and eventually Russia receives even higher earnings than in the last year.’ Let them make conclusions. Probably, they eventually started counting and started attempting to find out what they do and what are the implications of these actions," Lavrov said.
