Denazification issue is not confined to Ukraine — ad hoc commission’s chief

Andrey Klimov recalled that every year over the past decade Russia submitted to the UN General Assembly a draft resolution on the inadmissibility of glorifying Nazism and its manifestations and Ukraine and the United States always voted against

MOSCOW, May 31. /TASS/. Nazism and neo-Nazism are thriving not only in Ukraine, and the issue of denazification is not confined to the territory of that country, the head of the Federation Council’s ad hoc commission for the protection of state sovereignty and the prevention of interference in the internal affairs of Russia, Andrey Klimov, said on Tuesday. At the same time, he stressed that a variety of methods, and not only a military operation, could be employed for denazification.

"Denazification is not confined to the territory of Ukraine. This does not mean, though, that it is necessary to carry out denazification in all other places with the methods being used now [in Ukraine]. There are different methods. I address this proposal not to Russia itself and not only to Russia, but to all our colleagues and partners," Klimov told a news conference, adding that many were ready to join this and were already doing so.

He stressed that every year over the past decade Russia submitted to the UN General Assembly a draft resolution on the inadmissibility of glorifying Nazism and its manifestations. Ukraine and the United States always voted against.

"Now, the question: is Ukraine the only place that must be denazified? And who, being afraid of voting for obvious reasons, refrains from supporting our resolution, and who abstains? All NATO countries," Klimov said.

The legislator stated that Nazism and neo-Nazism were thriving not only in Ukraine.

"There are tasks of different levels. One task is to ensure the security and defend the independence of the countries that are our allies: the LPR and the DPR. Another task is the demilitarization of the territory of Ukraine, from where all this horror comes to civilians today. Why does it come? Because outspoken neo-Nazis rule the roost there," Klimov said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a special operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. The goals of the operation are the country’s demilitarization and denazification.
