US to be forcing its allies to buy its expensive weapons — senior Russian diplomat

According to Alexander Grushko, this tendency will only enhance Europe’s dependence on Washington

MOSCOW, May 27. /TASS/. Washington will be coercing its allies to buy expensive US weapons to substitute for the weapons they supply to Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on Friday.

"Under the US pressure, Western countries are passing off to the Ukrainian regime weapons made in the former Soviet Union and the task is to substitute for these weapons, to buy new ones. <…> The United States will evidently use this situation to the full. It will be coercing its allies to buy expensive American weapons," he said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.

This tendency, in his words, will only enhance Europe’s dependence on Washington. "It will be yet another noose around the Europeans’ dream of achieving a military political independence within the European Union," he said.
