Kremlin monitoring sixth package of EU anti-Russia sanctions being readied, says spokesman

On May 4, the European Commission submitted proposals on sanctions for consideration of permanent representatives of 27 EU countries

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. The Kremlin is monitoring the process of the sixth package of the EU’s anti-Russia sanctions being readied, calculating various options of developments, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

"Those are plans so far, with the discussion continuing there. We are monitoring it, we are calculating various options [of developments]," he said.

The European Commission submitted proposals on sanctions for consideration of permanent representatives of 27 EU countries earlier on Wednesday, with the decision on them expected by the end of the week. The sixth package of restrictions particularly suggests a gradual withdrawal from Russian oil imports.
