DPR says it evacuated another 191 people from Mariupol including 26 children

More than 21,000 people have been evacuated that way from Mariupol since March 5

DONETSK, April 22. /TASS/. Representatives of the Donetsk People’s Republic on Friday evacuated 191 people from Mariupol, including 26 children, to the village of Bezymennoye where there’s a center of registration and aid, the DPR’s territorial defense headquarters said.

"One hundred and ninety-one people including 26 children were evacuated from Mariupol to the village of Bezymennoye of the Novoazov District from 8 am to 4 pm on April 22," the headquarters said on Telegram. "They are now at the center for assistance to evacuated persons which has been deployed by the DPR’s Emergency Situations Ministry."

More than 21,000 people have been evacuated that way from Mariupol since March 5.

The situation along the contact line in Donbass escalated on February 17. The Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics reported the most intensive shelling by Ukraine in recent months. Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 21 announced the recognition of the sovereignty of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics. On February 24 Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbass republics, aiming to demilitarize and de-Nazify the country. The DPR and LPR started an operation to liberate their territory that was controlled by Kiev.
