Russian Civic Chamber, regional subsidiaries ready to observe elections — Secretary

According to the Civic Chamber Secretary, the federal Chamber and its regional subsidiaries were able to train over 250,000 observers

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. The Civic Chamber situational center for observation of the implementation of electoral rights has commenced its operation, Civic Chamber Secretary Lidiya Mikheyeva said Thursday, adding that both the federal Chamber and regional Chambers are fully ready to observe the upcoming elections.

According to the official, the federal Chamber and its regional subsidiaries were able to train over 250,000 observers.

This is an unprecedented number of observers, says Maksim Grigoryev, head of the Civic Chamber’s coordination council on public supervision of the election. According to Grigoryev, many observers were trained under requests of political parties.

"Over 2,000 public organizations take part in the public supervision, together with us, via us, via the system of civic chambers. There are about 100,000 independent public observers," he said.

"The Civic Chamber sends the most observers. And these observers have been professionally trained," Central Electoral Commission Deputy Chairman Nikolay Bulayev said.
