MOSCOW, July 14. /TASS/. The Tuesday talks of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in St. Petersburg should not be perceived as a response to the West’s sanctions pressure on Belarus, State Secretary of the Russia-Belarus Union State Dmitry Mezentsev said in a televised interview with Rossiya-24 channel on Wednesday.
"Nobody is allowed now to interpret Belarus’ aspiration to forge ties with Russia only as a response to the growing pressure of sanctions. We offend our closest allies with this," he said.
According to Mezentsev, "the large scale of allied relations was confirmed" at the presidential meeting.
