Gazprom reports another drone attack on TurkStream pipeline station

The attack was repelled by joint efforts of Russian Defense Ministry forces and mobile task forces, preventing damage to the Gazprom PJSC facility, the company stated

MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Gazprom reported another overnight drone attack on the Russkaya compressor station of the TurkStream gas pipeline, which was repelled.

"[There has been] a new attack on a Gazprom PJSC export infrastructure facility. Last night, between 12:40 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., the Russkaya compressor station, which ensures reliable gas exports via the TurkStream gas pipeline, was attacked by three fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the holding company said in a statement.

The attack was repelled by joint efforts of Russian Defense Ministry forces and mobile task forces, preventing damage to the Gazprom PJSC facility, the company stated.

Speaking at a meeting of the FSB Board on February 24, President Vladimir Putin warned of possible attempts to sabotage the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines running along the Black Sea floor. Later, Gazprom recorded numerous attacks on its infrastructure.

Russia supplies gas to Turkey via two pipelines across the Black Sea. Blue Stream, which was commissioned in early 2003, has a design capacity of 16 billion cubic meters per year and a total length of 1,213 kilometers.

The TurkStream gas pipeline runs from Russia to Turkey via the Black Sea and has a capacity of 31.5 bcm. It is designed to supply Turkey and the countries of Southern and Southeastern Europe. Currently, it remains the last active route for Russian gas supplies to Europe following the cessation of transit through Ukraine. The starting point of TurkStream is the Russkaya compressor station, built near Anapa.
