Moscow court extends detention of teenager suspected of making IED

Investigators ask the court to arrest him for two months

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Moscow’s Presnensky District Court has extended by 72 hours the detention period of a teenager suspected of making an improvised explosive device (IED), Alexei Chernikov, a spokesman for the court, informed TASS.

"Moscow’s Presnensky District Court ruled to extend the suspect’s detention for 72 hours, that is, until 14:50 Moscow time on November 6, 2018," he said.

Sources in Russia’s law enforcement agencies earlier told TASS that a criminal case had been initiated under Part 3 of Section 222.1 ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or bearing of explosives or explosive devices by an organized group") and Part 3 of Section 223.1 ("Illegal manufacture of explosives by an organized group") of Russia’s Criminal Code.

Earlier reports said that a 14-year-old Moscow school student had been detained on suspicion of making an explosive device on Friday.

Investigators ask the court to arrest him for the period of investigation, that is, for two months.
