MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Russia is currently assessing the damage to the Sudzha gas metering station after Ukraine’s attack on it, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said, adding that its restoration depends on future agreements with European partners.
"Regarding the Sudzha gas metering station, damage is being assessed so far. However, overall, as you know, this route - it has no contract and agreements have not been extended since January 1, 2025 - will largely depend, fundamentally, on future interaction on energy with European countries," he told reporters.
Novak noted that the Sudzha gas metering station has been seriously damaged in the attack. "A fairly long time will clearly be required for restoration," he said.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiev deliberately blew up the Sudzha gas metering station located a few hundred meters from the border in the Kursk Region just after midnight on March 21. The facility was substantially damaged. The Russian Defense Ministry called the blowing up of the gas metering station a deliberate Ukrainian provocation that should be seen as part of a general series of recent attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure aimed at derailing US President Donald Trump's peace initiatives.
