Most European countries lose sovereignty, says Putin

The president stressed that GDP in the euro area stood at just about 0.9% in 2024

MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. The majority of European countries have lost their sovereignty and are facing economic and security issues, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, addressing a congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

"We can see that most European countries have lost their sovereignty and as a result, they are facing serious economic and security issues," he pointed out.

According to Putin, all these countries are reporting near-zero economic growth rates or even slipping into recession. In contrast, members of the BRICS group have been the leaders of global growth in recent years, setting high standards for economic development, the Russian president emphasized.

He stressed that GDP in the euro area stood at just about 0.9% in 2024.
