Slovakia to import more than 1.5 bln cubic meters of gas via Hungary this year — Szijjarto

BUDAPEST, March 6. /TASS/. Slovakia will be able to receive more than 1.5 bln cubic meters of gas via Hungary, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto said after the meeting with Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Denisa Sakova.

"We are implementing more close energy cooperation between Slovakia and Hungary than ever before. Slovakia will buy more than 1.5 bln cubic meters of natural gas via Hungary. We also achieved that oil products made from Russian oil can also be used in Hungary and we take measures together against discrimination in respect of nuclear energy," Szijjarto wrote on his page in Facebook [banned in Russia, owned by Meta recognized as extremist in Russia - TASS].

Slovakia started experiencing gas supply problems after Ukraine terminated fuel transit via its territory from Russia on January 1.

Hungary continues received the bulk of gas under long-term contracts with Gazprom over the TurkStream pipeline and its branches via Bulgaria and Serbia.
