Gas reserves in UGS facilities in France down below 35%

Those remaining on the list of top five also actively consume the accumulated fuel as German UGS facilities are 54.44% full, Austrian UGS are 62% full, Italian UGS are 62.52% full

MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. Gas reserves in underground gas storage (UGS) facilities in France, which is among top five countries in terms of the gas storage capacity, have dropped below 35%, according to data provided by Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).

As of February 2, French UGS facilities were 34.86% full with around 4.5 bln cubic meters of gas stored in them.

Those remaining on the list of top five also actively consume the accumulated fuel as German UGS facilities are 54.44% full, Austrian UGS are 62% full, Italian UGS are 62.52% full, while in the Netherlands UGS facilities are 36.48% full.

Slovakian UGS are 59.57% full, Hungarian UGS are 55.58% full, Czech UGS are 51.41% full, Romanian UGS are 44.64%, Bulgarian UGS are 54.03% full, Belgian UGS are 40.99% full, while UGS facilities in Denmark, Latvia and Croatia are 45.11%, 55.5% and 35.18% full, respectively.

The highest occupancy rates in Europe are currently registered in Portugal (98.14%), as well as Sweden (88.05%), Spain (71.57%), and Poland (67.42%).

TASS said earlier citing Gas Infrastructure Europe that gas reserves in Europe’s underground gas storage facilities had fallen to around 52.5%, though total gas volumes in UGS facilities are still at their fourth-highest level for early February since records started. Europe has withdrawn over 50 bln cubic meters from UGS facilities since the beginning of the heating season.
