EU tariffs on Russian, Belarusian grain may reach 95 euro per metric ton — source

The source noted that "it is very difficult to speak about the deadline" for new tariffs to come into effect

BRUSSELS, March 22. /TASS/. The tariff on imports of Russian and Belarusian grain by the European Union may reach 95 euro per metric ton but the effective date is not yet known for the tariff, a European source told reporters.

"The new tariffs must be sufficiently high to prevent the current import volume. Depending on a specific product, they will grow to 95 euro per metric ton," the source said.

"It is very difficult to speak about the deadline [for new tariffs to come into effect]. The majority in the EU Council [at the level of agriculture ministers] is also needed [if this proposal is approved at the EU summit]. We hope everything will go on quickly," he added.
