BAKU, January 11. /TASS/. Azerbaijan exported 23.8 billion cubic meters of gas in 2023, including 11.8 billion cubic meters - to Europe, the press service of the Republic's Energy Ministry reported.
"In 2023, gas exports from Azerbaijan amounted to 23.8 billion cubic meters, which is 5.3% more than in the same period last year. Of this volume, 11.8 billion cubic meters (50% of total exports) were supplied to Europe, 9.5 billion cubic meters (40%) - to Turkey, 2.5 billion cubic meters (10%) - to Georgia," the ministry said in a press release.
According to the ministry, gas production in Azerbaijan in 2023 amounted to 48.3 billion cubic meters, which is 3.2%, or 1.5 billion cubic meters more than in the corresponding period last year.
In 2022, Azerbaijan exported 22.3 billion cubic meters of gas and the European market accounted for more than half of this volume - 11.4 billion cubic meters.
On December 31, 2020, Azerbaijan began commercial gas supplies to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, which is an integral part of the Southern Gas Corridor. Buyers of Azerbaijani gas in Europe are Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Serbia.
