About 1.2 mln people remain without electricity — Russian Energy Ministry

Main networks in Dagestan will be restored by the end of this day

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Approximately 1.2 mln people remain without electricity supply in Russian regions due to adverse weather conditions, Deputy Energy Minister Evgeny Grabchak said on the air with the Rossiya-24 television channel.

"1.9 mln sustained the power outage in five Russian regions; it is about 1.2 mln people at the moment. These are mainly the Southern Federal District, the North Caucasian Federal District, the Republic of Dagestan, Crimea, the Krasnodar Region, Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, the Lugansk People’s Republic, the Donetsk People’s Republic, and the Rostov Region," the official said.

"We hope we will manage to fully eliminate breaks in power supplies by efforts of energy sector professionals with the help of regional authorities during two - three days," he added.

Main networks in Dagestan will be restored by the end of this day. Emergency recovery efforts will also end in the Krasnodar and Rostov Regions, Grabchak said.

"Main recovery efforts will continue during two - three days. These are the Republic of Crimea, the Kherson Region, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics," he added.

The cyclone at night and in the morning of November 27 resulted in a hurricane and mass flooding on the Black Sea coast of Russia. The adverse weather damaged houses and entailed electricity supply interruptions and problems with transport movement.
