ASTANA, January 25. /TASS/. Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov expects the republic’s trade turnover with Russia to reach $30 bln in the coming years, the Kazakh government’s press service said in a statement following Smailov’s meeting with Governor of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolayev.

"Alikhan Smailov noted that boosting mutual trade volumes is one of the priorities set forth as part of the framework of further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia. Thus, trade turnover between the countries totaled $24 bln in 11 months of 2022, up by 7% compared with the same period from the previous year. According to the Prime Minister, at such rates, reaching the $30 bln mark in the coming years is a real possibility," the statement reads.

That said, the Kazakh PM mentioned the strong potential for boosting mutual supplies with Yakutia. In January-November of last year, trade turnover amounted to around $80 mln, which is dozens of times higher than in 2021.
