UNECE’s credibility takes hit due to US, EU actions — Russian Foreign Ministry

It is stated that the countries violated internal procedure, pushed through a range of illegitimate decisions aimed at constraining interaction between Russia and the Commission in the Executive Committee of the UNECE

MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Russia had to make the decision not to pay the voluntary contribution to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) because the credibility and performance of the organization has been affected by the unfriendly actions of the EU and the US, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"This step is voluntary in nature and is associated with the destructive course of the United States and countries of the European Union in this regional commission of the UN. The countries violated internal procedure, pushed through a range of illegitimate decisions aimed at constraining interaction between Russia and the Commission in the Executive Committee of the UNECE," the Ministry said.

"We regret saying that the credibility and efficiency of the Commission and countries of Central Asia and the Trans-Caucasian Region - the main beneficiaries of Russian assistance - suffered from the unfriendly actions of the EU and the US. Our joint projects with the UNECE were developed and performed exactly in their interests," the Ministry informed.
