Russians top list of Dubai real estate buyers in 2022 — Bloomberg

NEW YORK, January 16. /TASS/. Russians have topped the list of real estate buyers in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, in 2022, the Bloomberg news agency revealed on Monday, citing the Dubai-based Betterhomes brokerage.

Interest among Russians in purchasing real estate properties edged up amid the conflict in Ukraine. According to Betterhomes, more than 86,000 housing transactions were recorded in Dubai last year (above the previous record of 80,000 deals registered in 2009), the news agency disclosed. Total real estate sales in Dubai stood at about 208 bln dirhams ($56.6 bln), which is about 80% more than in 2021.

UK citizens came in second after the first-place Russians among the top five real estate buyers in Dubai. Indians took third place, followed by Italian purchasers taking the fourth spot and French nationals ranking fifth.

The real estate sector accounts for more than a third of Dubai’s economy, the news agency added.
