Russia says it has evidence of Ukrainians’ damaging crops on purpose

Maria Zakharova cited the example of 50,000 tons of wheat that had been deliberately destroyed at a grain storage facility in Mariupol

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russia has evidence showing that Ukrainian forces have been deliberately destroying crops and sowing farmlands with mines, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"We also have evidence of deliberate actions by Ukrainian forces and nationalists to damage crops and grain silos, and to lay mines in the farmlands. The corresponding documents are available publicly," she said.

Zakharova cited the example of 50,000 tons of wheat that had been deliberately destroyed at a grain storage facility in Mariupol.

The United States has been supplying Kiev with weapons which are being used to shell agricultural businesses, the Russian diplomat said. She also pointed to statements by Ukrainian commanders who said they had been coordinating the use of HIMARS multiple rocket launchers with the Pentagon. "Strikes are being delivered on agricultural firms that produce food that, the West claims, the poorest countries need. But whenever those are shelled by US-supplied arms, the United States tends to forget about the poorest countries for a while," she remonstrated.
