Domestic companies fill market after foreign brands exit — Putin

"The market became a bit looser and immediately turned out to be filled," the head of state said

MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS/. Indigenous producers promptly filled the domestic market that had been cleared out after the exit of foreign companies, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday at the meeting with Governor of the Ivanovo Region Stanislav Voskresensky.

"The market became a bit looser and immediately turned out to be filled," the head of state said, responding to the governor’s report.

"Foreign apparel brands are leaving. Gifted entrepreneurs from various regions strive to take their place; they create high quality design, they need fabrics and require warranted supplies of domestic fabrics," the Governor said. Some raw materials still have to be imported, but "these investors were simply dealing with trade" and "now they deal with production," Voskresensky added, commenting on creation of new textile factories in the region.

"Probably, it would be very difficult to make just recently," Putin noted, referring to market liberation.
