EAEU prime ministers discuss broader use of national currencies in mutual trade

In addition, the prime ministers considered a draft agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian reinsurance company, a list of priority infrastructure projects in the transport sector and progress elimination of obstacles in the internal market of the EAEU

NUR-SULTAN, August 25. /TASS/. The prime ministers of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) discussed measures to expand the use of national currencies in mutual trade, the press service of the Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov reported on Thursday.

On August 25-26, a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is underway in in the Kyrgyz city of Cholpon-Ata. In addition to the Kazakh Prime Minister, it is attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko and Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov.

"In a narrow format, the meeting participants discussed the formation of a common EAEU gas market, industrial cooperation, regulation of the alcohol market and taxation in e-commerce. In addition, they considered a draft agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian reinsurance company, a list of priority infrastructure projects in the transport sector, progress elimination of obstacles in the internal market of the EAEU, as well as measures to expand the use of national currencies in mutual trade," the press service says.

Smailov, together with the heads of delegations, also took part in a meeting with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov.

The meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in expanded format will be held on August 26.
