Russia to produce 20 SSJ-100 jets with full import substitution a year from 2024 — Rostec

The SSJ-100 is the 98-seat passenger regional jet with the base version endurance of 4,400 km

MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. From 2024 Russia will be able to deliver twenty SSJ-100 passenger jets with completely import-substituted components a year, head of the Rostec state corporation Sergey Chezovov said on Wednesday. He was speaking at the Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament.

"In 2024, we plan to establish the production of import-substituted Sukhoi Superjets with domestic PD-8 engines in the amount of 20 jets per year," he said.

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) plans that the first flight of a SSJ 100 airliner with the Russian PD-8 engine will take place in early 2023, UAC head Yury Slyusar said earlier.

The production of SSJ 100 jets is planned at 20-30 jets per year, he said adding that technologically the company is able to produce up to 40 SSJ jets, particularly with Russian components.

Rostec said earlier that the UAC planned to construct 70 Tu-214 jets by 2030. The serial production of Tu-214 and import-substituted MC-21 and SSJ 100 jets became relevant amid sanctions imposed by the US and the EU, which particularly include the full refusal to supply jets and components of Airbus and Boeing to Russia. Moreover, the UAC’s foreign partners unilaterally stopped delivering components for Russia’s SSJ 100 and MC-21 aircraft.

On April 6, Slyusar told TASS the production of first 20 Tu-214 jets had started.
