Rescuers find cabins carrying tourists swept away from thermal springs on Sakhalin

Rescuers landed at the thermal springs and have now set off on foot toward the location where the containers were found

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, August 25. /TASS/. Rescuers conducting an aerial survey on Sakhalin found container cabins carrying tourists that had been swept away by a river from the Lesogorsk thermal springs, the regional directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS.

"Rescuers have just located the containers. A helicopter has joined the search. As there are no roads in the emergency area, the territory had previously been searched on foot. The helicopter crew spotted the cabins but cannot land near them. Rescuers landed at the thermal springs and have now set off on foot toward the location where the containers were found," the ministry said.

It added that nine rescuers are aboard the helicopter, while a ground team is also working at the site.
