Russia’s General Staff chief applauds 'constructive' meeting with CIS counterparts

During the meeting, the chiefs of staff discussed modern approaches to countering drones and demining during the special military operation

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Russian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov found the meeting of the CIS Committee of Chiefs of Staff (CCS) held in Moscow to be very constructive, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Concluding the meeting held within this year’s Russian presidency in the CIS, Gerasimov noted the businesslike and constructive attitude of colleagues in the course of joint work," the defense ministry’s report said.

During the meeting, the chiefs of staff discussed modern approaches to countering drones and demining during the special military operation. They also talked about how to improve the unified air defense system.

Troop issues were also on the agenda, combat and field training for servicemen at home as well as those from friendly armies. Gerasimov added that the Committee of Chiefs of Staff wants troops to be trained in the most up-to-date tactics.

"In addition, the joint scientific work 'Commonwealth of Independent States: Military Cooperation and Security in the 21st Century' prepared by the author’s team of military academies of the Commonwealth states and the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers was considered," Gerasimov added.

The meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of General Staff of the CIS member states' Armed Forces was held in Moscow. Before the meeting, the chiefs of general staff laid flowers and wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall.
