Russian army destroys 2,786 military targets during special operation in Ukraine

According to Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, 953 tanks and other armored vehicles, 101 multipole rocket launchers and 351 field artillery pieces were destroyed

MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. The Russian army has destroyed 2,786 military targets during the special operation in Ukraine, Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov has said.

He mentioned 953 tanks and other armored vehicles, 101 multipole rocket launchers, 351 field artillery pieces and mortars, 718 special motor vehicles and 93 drones.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24 launched a special military operation in Ukraine following a request for assistance from the leaders of the Donbass republics. He said Moscow had no plans for an occupation of Ukrainian territories. The sole purpose is the country’s demilitarization and denazification. The Russian Defense Ministry says its forces are not attacking cities. Their focus is entirely on military infrastructures. The civilian population is not in danger.
