Top diplomat says Russia’s potential support for Syrian Kurds may be headache for Turkey

If the Self-Defense Forces don’t leave Manbij, Turkey will have to take measures, the diplomat has warned

ANKARA, March 9./TASS/. Turkey views Russia’s possible support for the Kurdish Self-Defense Forces as a problem for Ankara, CNN Turk television cited Turkish Foreign Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying on Thursday.

"If the Self-Defense Forces don’t leave Manbij we will deliver a strike against them. We have openly stated this. If Russia comes in support of the Self-Defense Forces in Manbij or in other place, it will become a problem for us," the foreign minister stressed.

"However, if Russia makes effort towards clearing the territories of the Self-Defense Forces, we will support this," the top diplomat added.
