MADRID, February 21. /TASS/. The European Union is investing too much in the conflict in Ukraine, Alexander Sell, a member of the European Parliament representing the Alternative for Germany party, stated.
"From the very beginning of the war, we have been saying that it’s impossible to win a war against a nuclear power like Russia," the legislator remarked in an interview with the Spanish newspaper 20 Minutos. He added that Ukraine had no means to endure the conflict in the long term. "We have been urging the EU to propose a diplomatic solution and take a diplomatic initiative from the very start," Sell noted.
"We believe that the EU is already dedicating too many resources to this war; we cannot continue in this manner because the German economy is declining, and eventually, everything will be destroyed," Sell pointed out. When asked if it would be acceptable for Kiev to relinquish some of its territories to achieve peace, the European Parliament member emphasized that Ukraine was unable to recover those territories.
