Meetings with US administration inspire hope for peace in Ukraine — top Hungarian diplomat

"I think that right now the solution is closer than never before," Peter Szijjarto said

BUDAPEST, February 20. /TASS/. Meetings with representatives of the US administration provide hope that the settlement of the Ukraine conflict is closer than never before, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said following talks with US national security adviser Mike Waltz in Washington.

The top Hungarian diplomat noted that Waltz had just returned from Saudi Arabia where he participated in Russia-US talks, discussing the situation around Ukraine. The US official shared his assessments with Szijjarto, including from the point of view of settling the Ukraine conflict.

"I think that right now the solution is closer than never before. The United States and Russia have begun consultations at the highest level which gives hope for establishing peace in Ukraine. We needed a Russia-US agreement, and now such an agreement may be reached," Szijjarto told the M1 TV channel.
