ISTANBUL, December 30. /TASS/. The Department for combating disinformation in the Turkish Presidential Office debunked the claims that the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan allegedly contacted Israel for coordination of actions in Syria.
"The reports claiming that our president called the Israeli authorities are false," the department said.
The department noted that a number of Israeli media claimed that Turkey has established contacts with Israeli security services via closed channels.
"A number of Turkish media picked them up, claiming that Erdogan ‘called Israel.’ Thus, one groundless report has become a basis for another fake news," the statement emphasized.
Ankara pointed out that its policy towards Israel in regards to the "policy of genocide," carried out in the Gaza Strip, remains unchanged, and the two countries do not engage in any contacts.
"No steps have been made in order to improve the relations. Turkey will continue to support the just cause of the Palestinian people," the department said.
According to Israel’s TV-12 channel, cited by Turkey’s OdaTV opposition website, Erdogan allegedly contacted the military and political leadership of Israel via closed channel and proposed to coordinate the two countries’ actions in Syria, but received no response to his proposal.
