BEIRUT, December 15. /TASS/. Dramatic developments in Syria will not affect Lebanon and new authorities will make their choice in interests of their nation and the adjacent country, Secretary General of Hezbollah movement Sheikh Naim Qassem said in the address streamed by Al Jadeed television.
"Developments in Syria will not affect the situation in Lebanon, where resistance groups disrupted aggressive plans of Israel," Qassem said. "New forces came to power in Damascus and we hope they will make the proper choice in interests of two neighboring countries. We need to wait until the situation stabilizes and all the parties will be engaged in administration of Syria," he said.
"The Syrian people have the right to elect their government and approved the constitution," Qassem stressed.
Armed groups of Hezbollah lost supply lines passing through the Syrian territory, the Hezbollah leader recognized. "Each stage of resistance has its own survival methods," he noted. "The main point is that we defended Lebanon and prevented Israel from implementing its expansion plans through the Lebanese gate," he added.
