Around 40 delegations to attend G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in New Delhi

Vinay Mohan Kwatra noted that this meeting will be one of the largest gatherings of Foreign Ministers hosted by any country during the G20 Presidency

NEW DELHI, March 1. /TASS/. Around 40 delegations will take part in the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting due to be held in New Delhi on March 2 under the Indian Chairmanship, India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said at a press conference on Wednesday.

"The G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting under India’s ongoing G20 presidency will be held tomorrow, on March 2… This would be the second ministerial meeting being held under our presidency so far. The venue of G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting is going to be Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center. Overall 40 delegations are expected to participate in this meeting," Kwatra said.

He noted that this meeting will be one of the largest gatherings of Foreign Ministers hosted by any country during the G20 Presidency. The Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, will chair the two sessions that will take place during this summit.

"The first session will focus on three principles of items, first of them relating to multilateralism, second — the issues related to food and energy security, and the third — the question of templates of development cooperation. The second session will focus on four or five other key issues, …one of them would focus on new and emerging threats. This would include naturally the challenges of countering terrorism, counter narcotics," Kwatra added.

The G20 Foreign Ministers are scheduled to attend a reception in honor of the summit on March 1, and will also hold a number of bilateral meetings and consultations. The main discussions on various issues will take place at the Presidential Palace on March 2. Russia is represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
