Three Turkish law enforcers wounded in attack on checkpoint on border with Syria

According to the Anadolu news agency, Kurdish units of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and People's Defense Units

ANKARA, November 20. /TASS/. At least one Turkish soldier and two Turkish policemen were wounded in an attack on a checkpoint on the border between Turkey and Syria, the Turkiye newspaper said on Sunday.

According to the newspaper, the checkpoint in the city of Kilis came under a rocket attack.

According to the Anadolu news agency, Kurdish units of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and People's Defense Units, which are both recognized as terrorist organizations in Turkey, were behind the attack. On Sunday night, Turkey staged another air raid against them.

The new Turkey’s operation, dubbed Claw-Sword, was conducted in Syria and Iraq and involved artillery units, more than 50 warplanes and 20 drones. Strikes were delivered at the places of deployment of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and People's Defense Units.

According to the A Haber television channel, strikes were delivered at Kobani, Tell Rifat, al-Darbasiyah, and Derik in Syria, and at Sinjar in Iraq.

Experts believe that Turkey’s cross-border operation in northern Iraq and Syria was a response to the November 13 terror attack in Istanbul, which left six people dead and more than 80 injured. Investigators place the blame for it on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and People's Defense Units.
