IAEA finds no evidence of dirty bomb preparation in Ukraine — Grossi

It was noted that the agency could not ignore reports of the creation of a dirty bomb because "these assertions were made as part of a narrative leading to the use of nuclear weapons"

SHARM EL SHEIKH /Egypt/, November 9. /TASS/. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) immediately sent inspectors to Ukraine after allegations of a dirty bomb present there and found no evidence of it, the agency's Director General Raphael Grossi said on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh.

"What we did was immediatly, within a matter of days, <…> put together an inspection team to three facilities. <…>. We were able to confirm that there were no indications of deviation or any other misuse of nuclear material," Grossi said, according to the agency's social networks, which broadcast his statement live.

He noted that the agency could not ignore reports of the creation of a dirty bomb because "these assertions were made as part of a narrative leading to the use of nuclear weapons."
