Nord Stream 2 gas leak less intensive — Sweden’s Coast Guard

Experts do not forecast termination of the gas leak so far, spokesman of the Coast Guard Mattias Lindholm said

STOCKHOLM, October 10. /TASS/. The leak from the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline on sea bottom in the Swedish economic zone has become less intensive over the weekend, the royal Coast Guard said on Monday.

"The [sea] surface diameter of gas escape in the Swedish economic zone contracted to 15 m," the Coast Guard said. The diameter was 18 m earlier.

Experts do not forecast termination of the gas leak so far, spokesman of the Coast Guard Mattias Lindholm told TT news agency in an interview. "The downward trend is observed but sea and wave characteristics prevent accurate determination of the process rate. That’s why we have no forecasts when it may end," the spokesman said.

Two explosions on routes of the Nord Stream and the Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines were registered on September 26.
