No documents yet to be inked based on results of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations — Kremlin

The previous round of negotiations was a good opportunity to clearly state to the Ukrainian side Russian vision of the solution to the problem, Dmitry Peskov noted

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. An issue of signing any type of documents based on the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian negotiations is not on today’s agenda, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

"No, we are not speaking about any documents," Peskov told a daily news briefing. "The previous round of negotiations was a good opportunity to clearly state to the Ukrainian side our vision of the solution to this problem. Everything depends on how the Ukrainian side will react to it."

"We believe it to be premature coming up with other assessments at the present time," he added.

Peskov also said that the Russia-Ukraine negotiations in the current situation should be held in calm and should not be a subject of public disclosure.

"We are convinced that such talks in this situation should certainly be held in calm and should not be a subject of public disclosure," the Russian presidential spokesman added.

On Thursday, a second round of Russian-Ukrainian talks ended in Belarus. Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation, who also serves as the Russian presidential adviser, said following the meeting that considerable progress had been achieved. According to him, Moscow and Kiev managed to agree on the provision of humanitarian corridors for civilians. A third round of talks is expected within days.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in order to protect people "who have been suffering from abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories.

When clarifying the unfolding developments, the Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure. There are no threats whatsoever to the civilian population.
