Several officials will attend UN General Assembly’s high-level week in person — diplomat

Last year, due to COVID restrictions, the high-level debate was held in a remote format

UNITED NATIONS, July 14. /TASS/. The UN General Assembly high-level week planned for September will be held in a hybrid format, with some high-ranking officials coming to New York in person and some attending via video link, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gennady Kuzmin said on Wednesday during a session of the General Assembly, where this matter was discussed.

"Russia has constantly called for the return to the traditional working methods of the UN. We are glad to note that this year, the general debate of the 76th session of the General Assembly will be held in person. The General Assembly will demonstrate to the whole world that the pandemic is backing down and that the UN bodies are going back to effective work," he said.

The diplomat added that some of the high-ranking officials will attend the General Assembly in person, while some will participate via video link.

Last year, due to COVID restrictions, the UN General Assembly’s high-level debate, which usually involves world leaders and ministers, was held in a remote format.
